The Means Literary Journal is looking for a skilled and innovative designer to work part-time as an unpaid intern creating cover and page layouts for the journal as well as designing various promotional materials as needed.
Currently we have a tiny staff of two (one in Detroit and one in Los Angeles) and would love to add one more art and design savvy individual to take this project in a new and exciting visual direction.
We are a very forward thinking and jovial group that is dedicated to destroying the content conventions of the traditional journal and bridging the gap between the intellectual and the humorous. To date we have released two issues containing everything from fiction to interviews to comics to lists and beyond.
Your current duties would involve creating a black and white layout for Issue 3 and creating a color display banner for the upcoming convention season. There are no set hours but there will be deadlines.
Our ideal candidate would be:

Good at taking our suggestions and making them better through elaboration
In possession of a unique point of view
Technologically adept
Able to draw and illustrate
