Claudel and Rodin
I hope all has been well with our readers during the holiday season, and that our absence did not leave you fully vacant and devoid of amazing things. For me, our absence has done just that, and so now I satisfy myself with this post.
I’ve been out of commission for the past few days due to illness, and I recant my statements made in an earlier post about the flu being better than a sinus infection/cold. I lied. After violently expunging food from my belly for hours on end, I’ve decided that the hell that is puking is not for me, and therefore I now choose to live a vomit-free lifestyle. This change takes affect immediately, and shall remain in place until further drunken notice.
More pressing, I saw the most amazing sculptural exhibit of all time today at the Detroit Institute of Arts. I figured, what better way to recover from thoracic pains than with marbled figurines and chiseled sculpture? Lucky for Detroit, the DIA has had on display the Claudel and Rodin exhibit, which has been here for the past few months or so. It really is put together well, but most fascinating of all is the tragic story of the two.
