Hi.

Here we are, anxious and inspired.  You are probably wondering just what The Means is and why you should care.  Well, I am not going to lie, you probably shouldn't. Our apologies for wasting your time.

No I am serious, don't care about us.

Just stop reading and go away.

Do not bat your eyes at me.  I have resisted puppies at the Humane Society, I can resist you (and puppies have soft bodies and ears that bear a resemblance to the skin of a peach).

There's something very romantic about apathy. Trust us!

Well, ok.  Apparently you care.  Thanks.  Honestly, we wanted you to the whole time.

What you care about.

The Means is a regularly published magazine in the curious form of a journal, easily placed stylishly in your backpocket for your "intellectual on the go" lifestyle.

Our aim is to publish essays, stories, poetry, interviews, and lists.  Importantly, like Elvis Costello, our aim is true.   At the very least, we want our words to make you read them and then like them, possibly later in the evening you can ask for their phone number or email address (if you have phone anxiety like us).

Maybe it would be more effective if we explained what The Means is not, since it is much more.   Or at least that's what we shall tell you.

The Means is not -

>Prompt
>Easily skimmed and set aside
>Full of bad poetry
>Elitist for all the wrong reasons
>Lacking seriousness in scope
>Going to avoid referencing Charles in Charge and Thomas Pynchon in the same sentence
>A "zine"
>Intending on using ridiculous combinations of adjectives to describe music
>Lacking in skillz with a "z"
>An easily discarded checklist of accomplishments
>Edited very well (sorry grammar jockeys)
>Ready to go out into the real world

It's More Than That.

To make that long wait between issues slightly more bearable for both of us, we will be maintaining a blog.  This blog is called Intercepted Communiques from the Field and is updated four times a week with anything we can think of.  Our intention with that endeavor is to try and chip away at the ever increasing mound of garbage that the web has become.  Also, we hope it will help you keep us in memory, like a photo album of words. Use it to reminisce about our stunning love affair.  We think about you always and want you to do the same.
